Insurance & Billing

We are in network for NC Medicaid and the following Managed Care Plans:
Medicaid Direct
Amerihealth Caritas
HealthyBlue of NC
WellCare of NC
UnitedHealthcare Community Plan
Carolina Complete Health

We are not in network for any private health insurance plans. Payment is due at the time of service for families who have private insurance.  Although we do not bill private insurance companies directly, we are happy to provide your family with documentation (a monthly "superbill") that you may submit to your insurance to request reimbursement for services provided.  Because all insurance policies vary, reimbursement amounts vary.  We recommend calling your insurance provider prior to your appointment to find out information about coverage for speech therapy services.

We accept cash, check, debit/credit cards, as well as FSA/HSA plans.  Card payments are accepted via emailed Square invoice.  Future sessions may be canceled if there is a balance on the account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see your question? Give us a call! We will be happy to answer your questions.

Why choose The Speech Lady?

We are a family-centered group of Speech Therapists who strive to provide instruction that meets the family and child's communication goals. We pride ourselves on practicing at the top of our license by utilizing evidence-informed practice, seeking additional training, and providing interventions that are individualized to each client. No two clients are the same; therefore, no one-size-fits-all treatment is provided.

What can I expect from the evaluation?

At our evaluations, we use caregiver input and report, clinical observations, standardized measures, and clinical judgement to create a collaborative plan for your child. Evaluations last 45 minutes to 1 hour. We use this time to get to know you, your child, and their communication needs. We look at all areas of development within our scope to determine the appropriate communication needs of the child.

Question
How do I know if my child needs speech or language therapy?

If you have concerns with your child’s development, reach out to your child’s pediatrician, teacher, or us. We are happy to answer questions, provide developmental norms, and talk through concerns that you may have. We periodically provide community screenings for free.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions range from 25 minutes to 30 minutes. We work with caregivers to provide coaching, a review, and a summary of the session at each appointment.

Where are services provided?

Our services are provided in clinic, in person or virtual, at the child’s school, or in home. Service placement is determined by therapist availability and family preference. We do our best to accommodate families, but no one place of service is guaranteed.

What happens if we miss a therapy session?

We understand life happens and things come up unexpectedly. We ask for a 24 hour notice when available. If appointments are missed, we make all efforts to make up sessions within reason. If no response is provided for a missed appointment, we will reach out personally. After three no show appointments, you will be added to our waitlist to help accommodate a better timing for you.

Do you provide speech therapy in Spanish?

Yes! We have a bilingual speech therapist who is fluent in both English and Spanish.  We provide services for families who need an evaluation and therapy in Spanish, or need bilingual services for their family.  Working with a bilingual speech therapist can help improve communication and build confidence in both languages!
